The Business of Influence

Influence is the asset. Ownership is the exit. I work with Black women on positioning, IP and the global deals that connect the two. Here I show you how to do it for yourself, with the numbers nobody publishes.

Join The Breakdown

What creators are offered, against what they are worth.

Once a month I take one real negotiation off my desk, anonymise it, and show you what was asked, what was countered and what it closed at. Two from the archive below.

A brand’s opening offer · mid tier creator
£125 against £3,000

One Instagram reel. Roughly 4% of her quoted rate that same month. The offer was not a negotiating position, it was what the brand thought the work was worth.

A pricing platform’s reference range · mega creator
£160 against £14,700

The platform put her reel between £160 and £480, then asked us to come down to it. The clearest evidence anywhere that platform rates are not market rates.

Most creators will never have one. Here is how to do it anyway.

Three things stand between you and the right number. Work through them in order. The tools are free unless they cost me money to run.

One

Know your worth

What the work is worth before anyone quotes you. Usage, whitelisting, exclusivity and rights are where the money actually is.

Two

Show your value

Brands do not check followers, they check whether your audience moves. Bring the evidence before they ask.

Three

Hold the line

What to say when they push back, what to never give away free, and what a fair counter looks like.

Two talks, both built on data nobody else has.

The 90x gapWhat platforms say Black women creators are worth, and what they actually close.
Forty five percentThe close-to-ask ratio nobody tells creators about, and what it costs them over a career.

Two ways in, both with a waiting list.
